Induwara Bandaranayaka – The live light student
“Always remember to take your Vitamins: Take your Vitamin A for Action,
Vitamin B for Belief, Vitamin C for Confidence, Vitamin D for Discipline and
Vitamin E for Enthusiasm!”
- Pablo.
Let me introduce a
young schooling boy who blow
the competition away and successively moving with both academic and extra-
curricular activity like lively person. He is the spotlight, the lively student
Induwara Bandaranayaka, who is a student of Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala.
This live light student is someone who is being very passionate about the
Martial Arts. He really shows his engagement in Karate and other
extracurricular activities as well. He is being as a karate player, he joined
karate in 2014, and the first time he went to the sport with one of his so the
journey he started then had come a long way today. Apart from Karate he also
was mutual in other activities where it really brings the fact of enthusiasm.
In addition to playing karate, he was a member of the college badminton team
and captained the team at the age of 16. He also served as a senior scout at
the Maliyadeva Scout Group, chairing the media unit for the year of (20/21)
focusing on extracurricular activities.
The Founding President of the College Aeronautical Club and also a
Senior Prefect of the College.
According
to my point of view, Induwara Bandaranayaka he had his own power to supply the
current to the bulb and give the light to everyone. Induwara did not have any
such special motivation. But usually when he wanted to do something he will
continue until it is being over. This is the theory that has always been in his
mind. That's the reason he was able to come this far in his journey. Certain
challenges faced by him is when it comes to creativity, He did not have much
inclination towards aesthetics such as art and music. But when it comes to
Karate and other extracurricular activities, there is a greater tendency for
those things. Going forward with that was a really hard thing to imagine
especially when something likes creativity respectively.
His Karate journey further being a supportive with an ultimate person who is been a backbone to him. Indeed, he was not a self-studied player. He had a master. He is Mr. Rathna Sri Manjula. He is the Karate coach of his school. Under him, he did the training from the beginning. He is the coach not only of Maliyadewa College but also of St.Anne's College, Kurunegala as well as Sumangala College, Wariyapola. He also respectfully recalls his beloved coach on this occasion and he considers it a privilege to have been able to train under him.
“There are generally two types of people.
Multi-tasking and uni-tasking. Of those, I'm not a multitasking person. That
means most of the time when I start something I can focus my full attention on
only one thing. For example, if I have an exam, I will focus more on the exam.
Then if there is any activity in the Scout Association, I will focus on it more
than any other activity. It means to pay more attention to one action in a
short time. So I think I follow the same procedure for the exam. When there is
a tournament or training period I work with more focus on it. But because of
that, the rhythm that I maintain is not broken. I think the main reason for
being able to do all the work in the normal way without missing a beat is to
focus on one thing for a while and finish it successfully”, says Induwara Bandaranayaka.
Practice makes
perfect and let’s see how Induwara practices do him towards time management.
When it comes to time management, he often tries practicing it too. The reason
is that he had been accustomed for a long time to giving full focus to a task
and completing it successfully. But over time, we realize that time is short.
Usually, he does a lot of extracurricular activities like Karate, Media, and
Scouting and does educational work. So the time he gets for one work is very
limited. Hw also usually has to complete a task in about three months which a
person completes in about a year. If he follows time management it should be
exactly that. Otherwise, he would have been missed his work.
Induwara Bandaranayaka
wanted all our youngsters to get motivated and be inspired where it must be
worthy to them. He states that, “With
the Covid epidemic, school sports, as well as extracurricular activities throughout
the country, have suffered some setbacks. During this period, it is seen that
the focus is only on educational activities in children as well. Although
learning has to be prioritized in a truly competitive education pattern, a
person's personality development is also really valuable. Indeed, the extracurricular activities at
school are the main things that help a person develop a good personality from an
early age. Subject-related activities such as Scout Cadets are a great
help. It can build features such as time
management, facing challenges, etc. So
my point is if you've stopped playing any of these two years, start over. Set goals for both academic and extracurricular
activities. Always try to get to the top
of the task at hand”.
Helping others
isn't a chore; it is one of the greatest gifts there is. Induwara got a massive
support through his very closed ones as actually when we go to Preschool and
Grade 1 we have no understanding of our future life plans. For example, when a Grade 1 teacher asks us
about our future prospects, most of the time our answers are traditional
answers like Doctor, Engineering. At no
point do we realize I'm going to be an athlete to answer like I'm going up in
this field.
In fact, from the
early days of my school days, I began to show leadership qualities relative to
other children. So from there, he was in
the western band of the school. Also won
the best cups outer award. I also won
the Best Actor award for two consecutive years. Then he went on to win many
co-curricular achievements, including the schools best orator award and best
writer award. He was the president of
the school's media unit when it came to extracurricular activities. At the same time, he was the captain of the
under 16 basketball team, the under 16 and 18 badminton teams. He is currently being
the leader of the school's karate team.
During this time the school was able to win 4 All Island Championships.
He is being currently a member of the National Karate Team also. There were not many people around him when it
came to a long journey like this. He
always has a few people around him. Many
people today do not like the progress of others. It is very difficult to go on such a long
journey with such people. He needs to
remind his mother and father at this point.
Without the help of those two, he would not have come on this journey
anyway. Then he had reminded all the
teachers who have taught him from grade 1 until now. They guided him what is right. He came that way. Also, he reminds his master Mr. Manjula of
this occasion then his friends as well.
He did not have many friends. He
had a very little amount of friends.
That group is also reminded at this time. Then there is Nimesh, a friend he met
recently. He helps him a lot to improve
his education. The reason is that he had missed studies for a long time. The A
/ L exam is about 6 months away. So he
had to reach the best result he could get. His friend, Nimesh helps him a lot
to get there. As the word he hopes for a
good successive as the final output.
Self confidence is a super
power. Once you start to believe in yourself, magic starts happening. Finally, so
he also wanted to tell others that it is up to them to light up their
lives. Looking at Sri Lanka today,
tomorrow Sri Lanka definitely needs good leadership. So as young people we need to improve our
education as well as other external qualifications. It is their responsibility. Of course, children do not need others to
motivate them. They can make themselves
motivated. As your journey and the value
of your name increase, other things build around you. If you make a good name, a lot of people will
automatically gather around it. In the end, everyone can enjoy the victory
together. Make your name a brand one
day. Go your own way. Keep the path in mind. So everyone can win.
